Is video still recorded if the 4G network drops?

Update Time:2026/10/14

Yes. AlwayCare MDVRs and dashcams record to local storage, so recording continues without a 4G connection.

Live viewing and remote downloads stop while the network is down. Location and video already stored on the device can be reviewed later, either on the device or through the platform once the connection returns.

Local recording

Recorders save video to the SD card or hard drive in the vehicle, independent of the mobile network.

Storage cards

Use cards within the supported capacity and replace worn cards before they fail.

When the network returns

Remote viewing and platform access resume when the 4G or Wi-Fi connection is available again.

Before you deploy

  • Set retention so recordings are kept long enough to cover areas with long network gaps.
  • Check recording status during routine inspections; a full or damaged card stops recording.
