Frequently Asked Questions

Need technical definitions for ADAS or UNECE compliance? Consult our Commercial Fleet Safety Engineering Glossary, or contact our engineers — email safety@alwaycare.com or send an inquiry.

How does the AWS302 ADAS camera recognize collision risks and calculate warning timing?

The AWS302 integrates an automotive-grade forward optical camera and an onboard machine-vision processor running deep-learning vehicle and pedestrian trajectory algorithms. It continuously calculates Time-to-Collision (TTC) based on relative distance and approach speed, triggering Forward Collision Warnings (FCW) up to 2.7 seconds before potential impact and Headway Monitoring Warnings (HMW) when following distances drop below safe thresholds.

Can AWS302 operate as a standalone warning system or must it connect to a Mobile DVR or telematics platform?

The AWS302 functions fully as an independent standalone ADAS collision warning system. It includes its own in-cab visual display and acoustic warning buzzer that alert the driver in real time. Additionally, RS232 and I/O alarm output trigger interfaces allow direct integration into third-party Mobile DVRs (MDVR) or GPS tracking terminals for cloud event synchronization.

What vehicle types and windshield angles does the AWS302 camera support?

AWS302 is engineered for commercial vehicles including heavy freight trucks, transit buses, delivery vans, and municipal utility vehicles. The mounting bracket features adjustable mechanical inclination to align with windshield tilt angles ranging from vertical (buses and flat-nose cab-over trucks) to 45° slopes (long-nose trucks and vans), with software calibration taking less than 10 minutes.

How does the system prevent nuisance alerts and false alarms during normal lane changes?

The system connects to the vehicle's turn signal wiring harness via digital inputs. When the driver engages the left or right turn signal before changing lanes, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) alerts are automatically suppressed. Furthermore, low-speed alarm masking prevents alerts in heavy stop-and-go city traffic below configurable speeds (such as 30 km/h).

What electrical protections and power supply ranges are integrated into AWS302?

Built for commercial vehicle duty, the AWS302 operates on DC 9V to 36V wide input voltage with ISO 7637-2 electrical transient suppression, reverse-polarity protection, and over-voltage safeguards. It withstands commercial alternator surges and operates reliably from -20°C to +70°C.

Configuration & Quotation

Configure the right system around your vehicles.

A quotation should confirm the coverage, compatibility with your existing equipment, installation environment and platform workflow for the selected vehicle-safety system.

  • What the installation needs to cover
  • Compatibility with your existing equipment
  • The conditions in which the system will be installed and used
  • How footage, alarm events and fleet data are reviewed day to day
